Welcome to CASA of the Heartland

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the Heartland is a non-profit child advocacy organization based in Elizabethtown, KY, that serves all of Hardin County and Fort Knox.

The CASA staff recruits, trains, and supports a network of volunteers, who are court-appointed to act as advocates for abused and neglected children under the protection of the Hardin County Family Court. CASA volunteers are appointed to specific cases on which Family Court Judges would like an “extra set of eyes and ears.”

CASA volunteers watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children. They make sure the children don’t get lost in the overburdened legal and social service systems, or languish in inappropriate group or foster homes. A CASA volunteer stays with a case until it is closed, and the child to whom they are appointed is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many abused children a CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives—an adult who is dedicated to watching out for them and who advocates for their best interest alone.
